Why Scholarship Junkies?

With the steady rise of college tuition costs in recent years, prospective and current university students are being forced to find college funding in any way possible, often taking out thousands in student loans. Despite the fact that federal financial aid has also risen steadily in the most recent years (though not at the same rate as average tuition rate increases), students must still find ways to fund higher education.

At Scholarship Junkies, our belief is that the millions of dollars available annually for a range of scholarships can play a significant role in shaping a student’s path to—and through—college. Scholarships are awarded for a variety of reasons, including academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, community service, overcoming adversity, or a whole range of other characteristics.

The availability of numerous free scholarship resource websites and databases make it relatively easy to find scholarship opportunities for which one might be eligible. However, for many students, the vast number of scholarship opportunities as well as the overall application process can prove to be overwhelming—to the point that they do not even give themselves a chance to apply.

It is precisely this challenge that inspired the creation of Scholarship Junkies, an insider’s guide to the scholarship application process, complete with insightful articles and relevant tips for how to compile a nationally competitive application. Through one-on-one mentorship, students receive first-hand feedback from former scholarship recipients who bring both their personal and professional experience into helping students craft strong essays and compile competitive applications.

As has been our promise since our founding, we never charge individual students to work with us one-on-one. While we do charge for our presentations for schools and organizations, the funds raised through our efforts go directly toward improving Scholarship Junkies to remain as student-centered as possible. Our ever-growing network of Scholarship Junkies across the country is eager and excited to work with prospective scholarship applicants so that they too can become Scholarship Junkies and make higher education a reality.
